About
Atara is an art & science residency dedicated to
contemporary unglazed ceramics and the study of
material and energy processes through the lens of
soft technologies and sustainable practices.
The residency brings together
artists, researchers, and engineers working with practices such as:
- shaping and firing unglazed ceramics,
- using biogas-powered kilns to explore interactions between material and energy,
- SiO₂-based processes for material modification and protection,
- integrating artificial intelligence tools to analyze and optimize experimental cycles,
- developing an open, reproducible methodology where every stage of the process is visible and accessible for study.
INERTIA treats
material inertia and process resistance as research methods, creating a space for
experimental practice, scientific analysis, and artistic expression. The residency aims to
generate sustainable social, environmental, and cultural impact, combining art, science, and technology into a unified practice.
